   Poor password protection. 2026 update: I decided to check out the Journal app again after I saw that Apple said it now has password protection. Turns out that password protection is still only the phone pass code and Face ID. To reiterate: I will not use the Journal app until it has password capability independent of the phone password. ——————— I will not use this until it can have a password independent of the phone passcode.

   Threw out my entry. I tried this for the first time today. I wrote a long note using my Apple Pencil, as a drawing. I drew a diagram etc. I switched out of the app briefly, came back, and 80% of my note was just gone. Disheartening. I closed the app and opened it again and even more of the note was cut off.

   Trop de bugs. C’est une bonne idée, malheureusement avec trop de plantages. Peut-être est-ce la version iPad qui est le problème. J’étais en train de coucher mes pensées lorsque, pendant que je tapais sur mon clavier Apple pour iPad, le curseur s’est déplacé à un autre endroit du texte déjà écrit. Ce que je tapais s’est donc retrouvé à un mauvais endroit. J’ai appuyé sur le bouton d’annulation/retour en arrière. Tout s’est figé un moment … Puis, tout mon texte s’est retrouvé effacé! Essayez d’imaginer ma colère. J’ai tout perdu à cause de plantages récurrents. Serait-il possible de mettre fin à ces bugs récurrents ?

    Deletes handwritten notes. I’ve loved this app but recently it’s been deleting lengthy journal entries when handwritten with Apple Pencil. It’s so frustrating to have random work disappear and have no way to recover it.

    Buggy. I want to like it. 1. Undo stack is broken. It clears out paragraphs at a time. 2. Sync is terrible. I journal from multiple devices. I can’t pick up where I left off on one unless I have journal OPEN on the other device. It’s like it doesn’t upload to iCloud until another device actively wants to view it. Bizarre. 3. Apple Pencil is finicky. I wonder if this is a quirk of my learned-profile. Every time I begin a sentence with “it” (which is quite often), it puts no space between the period and the first word of the next sentence, and it doesn’t capitalize the first letter.it looks like this example sentence.

    Needs lines on page. I would like the app more and use it often, if it could have lined pages. That was always my first thing I looked for in a journal.

    I want to like it, but buggy….. The app has cool features, but my entries disappear, especially handwritten notes. Makes this app essentially useless if it’s as broken as it is.

    It’s okay. Im just getting into journaling and this is ok if I want to type my thoughts down but also I would love a more…. “Realistic” sort of journaling app. Make if we could have lines like paper or add stickers and draw with our stylus etc. this is kinda bland. Just for typing and that’s pretty much it. I want to feel like a kid again and kick my feet while journaling and drawing

    Please fix this bug. Today when I was trying to put in an entry, the app kept doing some really weird stuff, like when I stop typing, I can see the text, but when I am typing all I can see is the little line that shows where you are while typing. And when the line is empty, I can see everything, but as soon as there is text in said line I can’t see any of the text that I’m typing. Idk what is happening please fix.

    Good idea, bad implementation. The app is glitching pretty often. It is very frustrating when you open a journal and can’t scroll down. Or when it just buffers badly when you type in

    It needs a little more help@. It would be nice if the search feature could actually find a specific word, quote or phrase and then either highlight it or take you to where it is located in the Journal. The photos that are imported into the journal text do not always retain their correct size or do not appear unless you stretch them.

    A good start. Apple needs to add better text editing and formatting capabilities. Number and bulleted lists, for example. Tagging also would be a helpful feature to allow the journal entry to reflect the day, but use tags coalesce a topic across journal entries. Consider leveraging Apple Intelligence to find a way to tag across journal entries if it can be done privately.

    Good but can be better. I love that I can easily access this and all its features. However, lately, when I save my entry, it erases part of my writing or drawings. These cannot be duplicated, so it is a bit upsetting to lose them. Please do some updates to fix this.

    It’s A Journal that can be technologically impaired.. It is what it says it is. I like the ability to use text and voice. It seems to give good ideas to talk about every now and then. I don’t really utilize the “how you are feeling” sub-app, but I guess that could be relaxing for some to use. I wish that the app was more reachable on other platforms like Mac. Even now, I’m typing this through the Mac’s iPhone mirroring and it really makes the journaling more involved for me. I also like to export the journal entries from time to time throughout the year as a backup. Wonder if there could be a way to streamline that. For the iPad, I’m not a fan of hell when using the Apple Pencil it does not catch all of the writing. You have to stop and essentially save an increment. Personally, I prefer 3/4 of a page, but if he comes more of a nuisance. It’d be great to see that fixed.

    Frustrating but decent. It’s going to take an act of a higher power to stop the popups. Read about the frustrations from others on this topic. I don’t know, maybe I have to turn off sync notifications on all 5 of my apple devices before it finally works but I just can’t stop that annoying pop up. Apple just listen for a change. Otherwise this is a good app. Basic if that’s what one wants which is usually the case. Most people don’t really want bloat with all the bells and whistles. After all, people have been journaling for centuries and what is the main thing that entails: writing down their thoughts, that’s all. Too bad I have to deal with a pop up every time I just want to do that.

    Could be better! But is good as is!. I came from DayOne Journal and this journal is so much nicer to use without all the in app purchases! I do, however, wish that time stamps, dates, and locations from photos are automatically added instead of using “Entry Date” as a default. I also wish that, like DayOne, it has “on this day” widgets to let me get a glimpse of what happened on this day, years ago! It’s difficult to have to manually select all of them. And there is no option for time.

    Nested pictures?. Works great. Type or speak, add photos etc. the only thing I would like is to be able to put the photos in the middle of the entry - not just at the top. It’s ok if they default to the top but I’m traveling with one entry per day, and I have morning, day, and evening pictures which are getting jumbled. I could have 3 entries per day I suppose but traveling is pretty hectic so I can’t manage it that well while catching subways, taxis, and dodging drones.

    Helpful. I like it bc it’s been helping keep an eye on my mindset due to things I’ve been going through. Only didn’t give five stars due to the glitch with the streaks. I do this daily and don’t miss a beat, but it keeps resetting my streak for some reason. Quit aggravating actually.
