  1. ★★★★ads disrupt the experience

Intrusive ads. I normally don’t leave reviews, but lately when I use this app, a random ad will blare out of my speaker even though my phone is on mute. This is completely unacceptable and renders this app useless in a professional setting. I can no longer trust it.

  2. ★★★★data, history or progress disappears

Lost my progress. Seems to have trouble remembering my login. Sign in with Apple is no longer working.

  3. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

    G. This sucks and Duolingo is way better and easier to navigate

  4. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Good but price is high. It’s a good dictionary but the price is high

  5. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Used to be great. Such a disappointing fall from glory… the app used to be so smooth and easy to use. Now it’s littered with ads that stop music you have playing, it’s slower than before, it eats up battery life, and the overall experience has been terrible. It’s so sad seeing all the five star reviews praising this app now. People have no idea how good it used to be. I used this app daily for five years and I refuse to touch it anymore.

  6. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Used to be great. Recently, every time I open the app an ad starts which I expect with a free app but the ad makes very loud noises so the app is now essentially useless. So disappointing because I find the content- without the noise - very helpful in my Spanish language studies.

  7. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Asked me to review, interrupted my use of the app. Interrupted my use of the app, don’t beg for my review

  8. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Good but has issues. Love the app, I’ve had it since high school. However, after a single search the app freezes even after installing several times, not sure what the issue is. I have to close and open the app after every search

  9. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

5 STARS. Excellent. Somehow only 1 star was highlighted. It is a 5 star app. Love it and highly recommend the app!!

  10. ★★★★crashes, freezes and errors

Used to be a great app. Extremely disappointed as I have been using this app for over 7 years, and it has suddenly turned to trash. Several months ago it started being incredibly slow when searching for terms and freezing and crashing when searching more than one in a row or when trying to add words to vocabulary lists. I’m guessing like many other companies they fired critical programming staff in lieu of AI, and the app is now ruined. I also tried to send feedback through their app, but that part of the app is conveniently broken too.

  11. ★★★★ads disrupt the experience

Ads. Looking for a new app.. The ads are obnoxious. Amazon? Sure. But there are too many subtly weird ads to recommend this. It’s distracting and in your face. No thanks.

  12. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Doesn’t have Rioplatense Spanish. Major flaw with dialects which means this app will not be helpful when traveling to Uruguay or Argentina

  13. ★★★★ads disrupt the experience

overcomplicated and extortionately priced. popups/ads make it almost unusable if you don't cough up $60/yr.

  14. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

    Not free. You said free

  15. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Too many ads. Ads are disruptive and prevent learning. They try to make them so disruptive that you are forced to pay for the service. I think I will just start using a different dictionary

  16. ★★★★slow performance and long loading times

Incredibly Slow. In the past months, the app has become incredibly slow, particularly when attempting to utilize the search bar. It is an otherwise fantastic app, but it has become nearly unusable thanks to the constant loading screens.

  17. ★★★★slow performance and long loading times

Slowest App Ever. Freezes my phone and takes forever to load. It even takes forever on desktop. Fix it, it’s janky.

  18. ★★★★crashes, freezes and errors

So laggy and unusable. I got a good iPad and when I use this app for more than 30 seconds it crashes or it becomes very laggy. This app is so impractical and useless because I cannot use it without it crashing. Please fix your app this app is so bad I can’t even use it for more than 30 seconds before it crashes because it is so bad, please fix. The app will crash every time I use it, so useless and pathetic, pitiful, wretched, lamentable, repulsive, disgusting.

  19. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Annoying ads. This used to be my go-to app for translating but now the ads have taken over trying to force you to switch to premium. Just like Duolingo, what used to be great has been ruined by greed.

  20. ★★★★privacy and excessive permissions

Ads Play Audio. The ads will be play audio without permission.

  21. ★★★★an update broke a familiar workflow

How did you make the app so much worse?. SpanishDict was the most amazingly useful app for quickly looking up vocab and getting high quality translations. I recommended it to everyone. I don’t know what they have done the but the latest version of the app is beyond bad. It loads for minutes when search for a single word and freezes all the time. Totally unusable

  22. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Horrible ads. They have ads that play audio without asking!

  23. ★★★★trial charges and refunds

Confused. I was disappointed because I signed in for the free trial and was charged the whole 59.99. Just wanted to try it to see if I wanted it!

  24. ★★★★slow performance and long loading times

Used to be a great app. Slow to the point of frustration, confusing word entry - tries to guess what you want (I know what I want!). Used to function like its name implies - a good online Spanish-English dictionary. Now a slow, add laden confusing mess of an app.

  25. ★★★★accessibility and assistive-technology issues

The app isn’t working. You changed something. The app freezes during vocabulary practice on any phrase that is long enough to require the app to adjust the font size in the answer.

  26. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Auto playing ad with sound. The monopoly ads are ridiculous and ruining an otherwise great app. Please fix to not auto play with sound

  27. ★★★★ads disrupt the experience

Ad auto-playing with sound. The ad will randomly just play on its own, and what’s worse is that it will not be muted even if the phone is silenced, even if you never scroll the screen down to actually see the ad. And it is LOUD. This can be very disruptive if I just want to pull out the app to look up some words in a meeting, and suddenly my phone screams “hey you, pop the chest, and see what’s inside”. Software bugs. Please fix.

  28. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Be wary. This app takes up so much energy and I have to close and open it frequently during one use.

  29. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Tan bueno. Other apps frequently gave me words that are only widely used in Spain, which is not much help for me being in central America. I find that Spanish dictionary has given me, largely, general Spanish words that are widely acceptable. I would like to see translation of whole sentences improve, but that's definitely not a dealbreaker for me.

  30. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Why do people like this app?. I've spent years learning Japanese and Chinese, so I'm used to using different dictionary apps and resources. This dictionary for spanish is simply not good. It's terrible. Why does it take so long to load, why does it basically not work when there's no internet? Why does it not let me go back on my query and fix a typo and just start loading away? Garbage app, unnecessarily clunky
