I hate typing. I dont like to type I will not be using this
- ★★★★★trial charges and refunds
will charge you even though free trial. i signed up for the free trial and was immediately charged the full annual plan
- ★★★★★inaccurate results and incorrect data
Great for learning incorrect translations. I am forever reporting translation errors. So much so, that I might as well be working for them. Don’t waste your time or money with this app. There are so many errors in this app. I’d be outright embarrassed to release this to the public. I’ll also add that the errors aren’t being fixed.

Mediocre if it was a free app, terrible for what it costs. Forgot to cancel and got charged $85. Nice. The ability to do vocab by speaking (which is why I downloaded this app) just straight up does not work. Horrible layout, have to click the smallest buttons in the world.

Don’t bother. Unless you want to pay an unnecessary amount of money, don’t bother downloading this. Find an app that will be KIND and teach you for free.

蠻無聊的🙄⋯⋯app. 跟其他英文教學app比 顯得很陽春

Too many translations issues. It’s intolerable to see so many translations issues in French-English learning in such an expensive app.

Dishonest. Three years ago, the Lingvist team claimed that they were continuing to add languages and they offered a 10 year ($200) subscription on that “promise” They haven’t added any languages since and perhaps not enriched any of their existing languages either. Effecting, they have sold promises that they have/had no intentions to keep. This is lack of honesty.

Just a mess.. Really nothing is clear , too many options, you don't know where to go, just too technical and nit organized. It's also not clear what you actually learn in those sentence completions

Underestimates how many words you know. I tried to skip ahead in a language I’ve been working on for a long while and its placement test tried to tell me I only knew 104 words
- ★★★★★subscription and paid restrictions
Trap you to subscribe. Very bad….with the option “start free” but then charge you for a whole year

Can't change email address. And emailed the support multiple times and no one answers

just sad. i've used this app a long time ago (like 5 years ago) when i started learning english, and it's been the most useful app ever. Now i discovered that I love learning languages and wanted to learn more, but now i can't even learn for more than one day, because everything is blocked without subscription. I can't even do 50 words a day, i can't do anything, and the subscription is so costly. Really? 10 dollars a month? Can't you just make a version with ads, but one, that will actually work? This is so upsetting, this is a good app but I really can't be spending that much money on it. Please, do something for regular people, so they can just du at least 50 words a day. Maybe for you 10$ isn't much, but for me it's a lot.

Got charged even though it’s a free trail. Not happy

Ha cambiado. Al comienzo que compré había opciones de crear mi propio mazo de palabras lo que me gustó mucho y por compre la aplicación luego de 5 meses ya ha desaparecido esta opción y no me han respondido mi mensaje…..

Family plan does not work. Reached out to customer service about adding a family member, not helpful.
- ★★★★★trial charges and refunds
Inaccurate description, a money grab. So, the app let me go through the cards once, next day it showed the lock over every action saying I have to sign up for the trial to do anything. If it's a subscription only app with no free options, it should have been stated clearly in the description, as it pitches the app against different set of competitors (and the price doesn't seem right compared to them).
- ★★★★★trial charges and refunds
Don’t like it. I don’t like the app. I want to change the voice. I also don’t like how the words shuffle. It’s a lot of mémorisation rather than learning. The app also tricked me into buying, I pressed trial and it charged for the whole year and then I couldn’t get a refund.

Skipped free trial. I clicked on the 14 day free trial thing and started using the app. Within a few minutes a charge for a full year membership showed up on my banking. Don’t sign up for the free trial! It doesn’t work!

$79. Hahahhahahahhahahahhahahahaha. Hahhahahahhahahahahahahh. Just do the free trial

Pedagogy incomprehensible. The interface is uninteresting. Vocabulary review uses confusing examples. No interactive dialog options, no way to see progression. Sad I paid for. I assumed there would be more than in the free version. Will not be renewing.

Software vs content. Clearly prioritizing UX over actual educational value. And even the UX gets increasingly frustrating
- ★★★★★trial charges and refunds
Don’t sign up for the free trial, you will be charged.. Great app, but the free trial is a lie. I will give 5 stars once refunded

Buggy. Had an old account and wanted to retake the placement test. This was not an option so I made a new account to take it. Then tried to subscribe. The app offered a free trial but instead charged me for a year. It also did not even unlock the premium features. I was confused but eventually figured out that it unlocked them on my old account even though I had subscribed while signed into the new account. Also if you have anything playing in the background, it randomly pauses and starts your audio. If you go pause the music then it will start it again if you go back into the app.

I paid 80 dollars but it won’t let me access. The program keeps asking me to sign up for a free 14 day trial to use the product. I’ve already done the 14 day trial and have been charged the 80 dollars for a yearly subscription. They have my money so it would be nice to be able to use the product.

Careful!!!. —- Update —- Lingvist replied to this review, but unfortunately they did not address any of my concerns. Original review is below. App is just ‘ok’, but after I cancelled my subscription, Lingvist renewed my subscription for $79.99, I made an Apple claim and was reimbursed. App was not used and not accessible. Then, kept the app on my phone, and Lingvist AGAIN renewed my subscription one year later, without my permission. Made another Apple claim and was denied. This time I deleted the app from my phone. A bit scammy!!!

They are trying to skirt Apple’s payment system. I signed up for the monthly plan. The app didn’t register my payment even though I had clearly paid. I contacted support. The gave me a “voucher” which doesn’t make any sense, given that I already paid. They told me to cancel my Apple subscription and consider one of their web plans. Why? They offer an Apple subscription. I already have that. I didn’t cancel my Apple subscription. It worked for 1 extra cycle. I thought all was well and that they decided to stop their shenanigans. Nope! My subscription just renewed today, and guess what? The app tells me my free trial is over and locked me out. Yes, let me make that clear — __ I just paid for another month, but the app locked me out. __ To the developers - pick a lane. Either only offer a web subscription or properly honor the Apple subscription that you are offering. Both of those are legit, honest, ethical. What you are doing instead is a bait and switch. It is dishonest, unethical, immoral. It is a shame that you chose to be this way. Your product is good and useful. I would have gladly paid for it if you would have just taken my money without trying to hustle me.

They charge you without consent and ignore cancellation requests. Wow. I paid for a year and canceled the service after that. Then I emailed the company to see if they had a lifetime purchase option. They replied “no” but somehow took that email to mean that I wanted to renew. They then renewed and charged me without my consent. When I saw the charge on my credit card over 30 days later they said they had a company policy not to provide refunds after 14 days. When I posted my review here they told me to contact customer service and then customer service reiterated the policy. Basically this company scammed me out of $60. How they are allowed to sell this product on the App Store I have no idea…. Beware! You should find a more reputable app.
