   Classic case of post-acquisition rot. June 2026 update: updates are still coming infrequently, and the latest update crashes often. If it’s another two or three months before an update that hopefully fixes it, my decade plus of using this service is probably coming to an end. —— Mealime was acquired in March 2022. That’s also the same time that they stopped updating their blog. I’ve been a paying customer of their service for over 13 years and use it daily, but it has gone downhill since they got acquired. The iOS app has stagnated, and updates (which are the only way that new recipes appear in the app) went from being almost every week to months apart. You’ll probably see an old response from the developer from a couple of years ago claiming this was “fixed”, but if anything, the new recipe drops have become more and more infrequent. I can’t name a single major new feature that the app has rolled out since 2022. It’s still does what I need it to, but I no longer tell all my friends and family about it. What used to be a solid 5/5 excellent service is now solidly in “meh” territory. I keep hunting for a replacement and will probably drop my subscription at some point.

   Very few new releases. It’s mid May. Last recipes are from March. Really disappointed in the lack of choices and updates.

   Calories should NOT be something you have to pay for. A meal plan/recipe app that DOESN’T show the calories? Even worse is they are withholding the caloric information to force you into PAYING to see this info? Why can’t there be any helpful free options for a meal planning app, this is so frustrating.

   Cumbersome for a paid app. What’s up with the forced meal plans that are one at a time and then have to be archived no matter what, then are impossible to find because there isn’t an obvious archive menu. I can’t fathom why you wouldn’t let people work more than one meal plan or be able to delete mistakes. Canceling.

   Kinda frustrating. I used to really really like this app because of variety and recipes… however, very stagnant on updating recipes and new content… I really enjoyed this and it’s gone a little bit boring… please update soon… And I’m a monthly paying customer. And not only erased recipes but also erased reminders… update soon with bug fix

   It randomly erased all my best recipes!. After 3 years of use, it randomly erased 1/2 of my recipes! Very strange as it kept the first ones I had added. Can’t work on curating recipes if they all vanish for no reason. And I upgraded for the more features and amount of recipes you can store! Looking elsewhere for a reliable app.

   No Help. This app doesn’t allow one to use any of the recipes unless you have upgraded. No thanks! Especially considering that you can’t start with dietary goals to filter or build in from the ground up using your recipes that you make on a regular basis. Keep looking…

    Health Risk. I wanted to use this app to help with my Type 1 diabetes. It’s dangerous if I can’t see nutritional facts. That should not be a pro option. That’s awful and money hungry. I will be deleting.

    Don’t waste your time unless you want to spend money on another subscription. Every single breakfast option is locked behind a paywall, and there’s no way to filter out Pro recipes. Everything about this app is clearly intended to make the free version as obnoxious as possible. I would be more than happy to pay a reasonable one-time fee but this is just another app that the creators were too afraid to fully paywall.

    Randomly Buggy?!?. I love this app and use it weekly to meal prep. But out of nowhere it’s being super buggy? It’s not letting me build meal plans in the app, forcing me to use web browser to work. Hopefully this doesn’t continue or I’ll have to find a new app 😢

    I don’t like it. The grocery list is all dependent on wording of the ingredients you need. Even when the wording is the same, it still takes 24-48 hrs to update the grocery list ingredients.

    Impossible to import. You actually charge people money for this? Impossible to import, terrible to use online. Did you ever consider hiring UX designers to maybe help with actual user experience?

    No new recipes since November. Even with a pro subscription the app has not been updated with new recipes since November. The developer claims they fixed the issue last year- they did not.

    Loved it, but no new recipes!. This app had been my go to for years. But they haven’t updated it 4 months. They are supposed to add new recipes every month. They haven’t for the past 4 months and counting. I finally gave up and stopped paying for the pro version because what’s the point if they aren’t adding more recipes? Please continue to update the app as promised!

    App won’t load.. Can’t get the app to even open. Deleted and redownloaded with no luck. Just shows a lime and won’t load. I have been paying for this app for over a year now and can’t even use it. Tried app support but can’t find anyway to contact.

    Disappointed. It specifically says in the app’s description under 4. Personalized Meal Plans that there are gluten free plans. Being celiac, I got excited. HOWEVER, once you download the app, I discovered that there is zero options to modify preferences to be gluten free. There’s no menu type option of gluten free. Heck, even under the allergies category “gluten” isn’t an option. This is very misleading.

    SO DISAPPOINTED!!!. Downloading this app I was like “yay I’m gonna eat healthy and plan the perfect meals and lose weight!” But when the app finishes downloading, it all went downhill. It was SUPER glitchy I literally thought someone had hacked my phone but no there’s not enough simple things to make like soups that are like snap snap snap that quick to make and to be honest I wasn’t that sad when I hit the delete button cause like um hello this app clearly needs improvement by like 100 times. Please fix this app, or get cursed with my bad reviews forever!!!🤬💀😡😢

    DELETED MY ACCOUNT I AM PAYING FOR. I am paying for the pro version cause i really liked the app but now im cancelling it because I just found out they deleted my account! I had all my recipes on there and would use it time to time. However, my phone did like a temporary uninstall where it like just randomly uninstalls apps you haven't used for a bit but keeps the data. Well i re-downloaded it, couldn't get into my account so i sent for a new password and they came back with "your account doesn't exist". WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY ACCOUNT DOESN'T EXIST!?!? I'm literally paying the subscription still!!! They have been charging me for usage when they have had my account deleted for months apparently! I'm so upset because i had recipes on there i'll probably never get back now!!!! Don't waist your time on this app! Use a traditional recipe card box! at least that can't be deleted and is one time payment for the cards! I would have said 5 stars for this app but no all your recipes are at risk on this app and they will delete your account without warning!

    Albertsons app is the same but free. I can get access to almost all of the same recipes, even the ones in pro, from the Albertsons app for free.

    Nutrition information. Have to pay a monthly subscription for basic nutrition information. I understand paying to unlock even more recipes but to see basic nutrition information is ridiculous. 1 star and wouldn’t give this app another chance

    AMAZING concept but frustrating to use. Love the concept so much, but desperately wish that it was easier to get to your recipes. Pasting in recipes from the web never goes over smoothly with the ingredients portion. Desktop version is completely useless.

    Nutrition info. I should add that nutritional info is only available for their recipes. So you might painstakingly add all ingredients for your own recipes, or even easily import them from NYT or something, but there is no nutritional information tallied.
