  1. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Absolutely Terrible. I started off by buying a plan that originally said Voice Call, Text, and data. Then, after I bought it, they told me it was data only, no problem, they said I could refund it, then, the plan automatically activated itself and it didn’t let my cancel my order even though I didn’t use the data. I talked to an agent and he ended up not responding back to me and being extremely unhelpful. Terrible experience.

Waste of Time. Never works properly, wastes hours of my time. Useless and waste of money.

  3. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Used to be good. Used to be good, now there’s some kind of problem every time I use them. Today’s it’s getting a 24-hour lockout from my account after trying to log in a single time to top up my data, which no one can override. Seriously? And that’s just one issue I’ve experienced this year. You won’t catch me using Nomad again.

connection problem in turkey. i am in turkey and 3 days it worked perfectly, now its disconnected, i completed every troubleshooting guide , support also doesnt work

  5. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Horrible in Japan. The nomad esim in japan was awful, would barely work most of the time and almost half the time when there was service, data still would not work at all. Recommend you look elsewhere

  6. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Bad network. 1st day of Nomad Esim, totally disappointed, google map didnt work despite all correct settings

  7. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Worst. Honestly id give it none. It constantly wont activate or says its active and doesnt even let me use the data and i bought the 20g one. Normally the 1g works but after i try to go up to 3g it continues to not work. Would not recommend tbh

  8. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Doesn’t respect email unsubscribe. eSIM works great, but still sends marketing emails after declining and no unsub link in emails. Sketch.

AFRICA-Do Not Depend on eSIMs!. Warning to travelers in Southern Africa: do not assume eSIM providers like Nomad or Airalo will work reliably in countries such as Zambia or Zimbabwe. I have now wasted money and several hours troubleshooting multiple eSIMs that either never connected properly or worked intermittently. I spent over two hours with support changing APN settings, resetting networks, reinstalling eSIMs, and sending screenshots. The support teams were polite and tried to help, but the underlying problem was never resolved. As of May 2026, my advice is simple: buy a local physical SIM card when you arrive. In countries like Zambia you may need to show your passport and spend 15–30 minutes at the airport kiosk getting everything registered and configured properly. Do it anyway. It is far better than finding yourself somewhere with no working data, no ability to call a ride, no maps, and no WhatsApp. It is also dramatically cheaper. I bought a local SIM with 20GB of data valid for 30 days for about USD $9. This is not just an inconvenience issue. In parts of Southern Africa, mobile data is essential for maps, transport, payments, and personal safety because WiFi is often limited or unavailable. During one trip I was left stranded at night in a rural area without working data to arrange transportation. Nomad, Airalo, and similar providers may work well in Europe, North America, or parts of Asia, but travelers should be extremely cautious about relying on them in Southern Africa. At minimum, have a backup plan before you land.

Blocks AI tools. Do NOT get this if you want to use ChatGPT, Gemini etc. while traveling. Because they route all traffic through Hong Kong where these and other AI apps are banned, access is denied. Useless and I regret buying this. Look for ones that route through Europe or elsewhere instead.

  11. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Low standards. I’m not sure who all these people are who think this is so great. The fact of the matter is is that I downloaded the eSIM while I was in one country in order to use it when I arrived as stated as advertised. By the time I arrive, they told me that it had expired that makes no sense at all and I was in a country that I didn’t need it or use it or turn it on so it was time based. There are so many that are so much better.

  12. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Activation is complex. Activation is complex

  13. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

False Advertising. One out of three times the data doesn’t work and I’ve been a returning customer. When I was in Los Angeles, my data did not work the entire time with spotty connection regardless of if i was by the beach area or inland or downtown. You’ll have difficulty doing the simplest of tasks such as doing a quick web search or sending a message. The eSIM will not be refundable even if it fails to load anything for the entire duration. I recommend you opt for an alternative or find a backup plan in case you’re stranded in a different country with no data. Customer service is kind, but given I paid for data and my data was so slow it barely works and I couldn’t get a refund, I’d just save myself the headache and not be a returning customer next time.

  14. ★★★★slow performance and long loading times

Very slow speeds. I'm using their esim in USA - bought 50gb - all their mobile data gets routed through Hong Kong - extremely slow and geo blocked many apps and programs

  15. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Basically useless, slower than 3g. I used this both in China and Mexico with unlimited data plans, coverage is very sporadic with some places like airports with no data connection at all. I ended up using wifi all the time.

  16. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

never got it to work. Struggled with it to get it to work in Costa Rica. gave up.

  17. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Non-functional and chat not working. I went to Egypt and my eSIM did not work outside of Cairo. Then when I went to use the chat feature which is the only customer service feature, the agent is telling me I have to create a new chat to initiate a refund. But there is no button to create an extra chat. So it’s impossible to get a refund. This is extremely unpolished, and is not worth the money at all.

  18. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

No more support. They stopped supporting the app. They only have an AI agent now.. so if you need something, the AI agent tells you to contact customer support, if you tell the AI that you are conducting customer support, it tells you that is correct and you are talking to customer support. I have used this app a lot in the past, but now that they no longer have people on their customer support it is very difficult to use.

  19. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Chinese eSIM. It seems that Nomad has begun using a Chinese eSIM provider out of Hong Kong. So, this may open your data to being processed through China

  20. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Terrible customer service. Was traveling in Canada, esim didn’t work and customer service refused to refund me after I provided all info requested.

  21. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Wasted money. Been using for a while but used a provider named jade and i paid for data. It said hotspot allowed paid twice but still couldnt use any hotspot.

  22. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Very bad. Customer service non existent.

  23. ★★★★crashes, freezes and errors

eSIM not working. eSIM did not work. Appeared I installed in once but did not see its name on. Emailed to nomad without reply & ended up buying another eSIM after arrival of my destination. Not good support

  24. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

SIMs don’t work, no refunds, unhelpful customer service. I’ve purchased about 10 SIMs through this app over the last few years and about a third of the time I have an issue with connectivity. Support is quick to respond with troubleshooting tips, but they never solve the problem. Then you have to wait days for support to process your ticket (unreasonable while traveling) and ultimately deny a refund because “the SIM was activated”. I’ve now spent maybe $75 on just the bad SIMs I was never able to use.

  25. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Scammers. Their so-callled “unlimited” plans are actually limited to 2Gb/day, after which the speed drops to useless 1mbps. The support is useless and only copy-pastes the pre-written “f-you very much” replies

  26. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

False advertising and condescending customer service rep. I purchased a 20 gb plan and close to the expiration date I purchase an “ad-on” of 1gb. To my surprise the remaining data did not carry on to the add on plan. I contacted customer service and the rep was condescending and not really willing to help in any way. I explained that calling the additional plan an ad-on is false advertising because people assume the data will just be added on to what you had before. Otherwise the plan worked well and did mot have a lot of interruptions. Please train your representatives to be more courteous and rename your “ad-on” to something else or clearly inform the customers the date does not get added on to the previous plan. The rep I talked to is Shishir

  27. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Poor customer service. Purchased an 5-Day unlimited eSIM and didn’t get the advertised 5G connectivity (confirmed it is available in the area). Couldn’t even get a connection when forcing 5G only. Immediately requested a refund after troubleshooting (<1hr) which was denied. A day later, I was offered a 50% credit, but then in a later email I was told the plan would be cancelled to provide the credit — clearly an unfair solution since I wouldn’t receive the advertised service I paid for nor a fair payment. Customer service agents were rude and difficult. What a rip off!

  28. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Awful in-app experience. Not sure who decided that it switching between tabs should fade in and out. All that does is make the app feel incredibly laggy. Switching to another.

  29. ★★★★slow performance and long loading times

Bad for Mexico Yucatán. I tried the service several times in Mexico - the second time in January 2026 it was very, VERY slow. I had several of their representatives go through my settings so my settings are good. It’s just slow.

  30. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Does not work. I bought to try out. Didn’t work at all. Very disappointing
