   Update to Codebook 5 Failure. I’ve been a Codebook user for many years. I updated my MacBook and iPhone to the latest Codebook 5 version. The desktop version on the MacBook can no longer sync to the Codebook app on my iPhone. The Codebook app on my iPhone still lets me sync to Codebook Desktop on my MacBook at least so my data is preserved that way. If I was to loose, or upgrade my phone, I could not sync or restore data to a new iPhone from the Desktop version of Codebook. There is probably a work around, but a major update should go smoothly without me having to redo the sync setup process. The whole reason I use Codebook is because I don’t have to store my data in a “cloud” server where it can be compromised.

   Difficult To Setup Desktop Device. Could not add a desktop to devices. I have been using CodeBook for years and really like it until now. I have just recently just come into problems when adding a desktop into the mix. I have always synchronized with other mobile, tablets and laptops. Today, I tried to add a desktop. No go. It is extremely hard to do because there is no camera and QR code ability on the desktop. CodeBook instructions are simple looking but in reality are difficult to know what to do, when you start, and where to go. In the end, you need to “backup” the key and select words. This is not intuitive because you assume you need to start in add device area of the application. I tried following the online instructions. I repeatedly kept running into unauthorized mismatched keys and had to keep trying over and over. It never worked. Now looking for an something easier to setup across desktop and portable devices.

   Codebook does not sync. Instructions to develop and avtivate a “sync key”, are very confusing. Can’t get it to work. Codebook support is equally confusing

   I don’t know what I’d do without this app. For over 20 years, my passwords have been a jumble of mixed case, numerals and special characters. They’d either have to be written down or memorized and they were almost always reused. It is much easier to have Codebook on my phone, tablet and laptop, all synced. I had trouble with it when the sync key was added to the mix at first, because I had no idea what it was; it gave me choices that I didn’t understand and had little in the way of explanation. With a little work I managed to figure out what to do. I like that I was able to BUY this app rather than RENT it as seems to be the current trend with apps.

   Used to work great. Have been using this app since it was named “Strip.” Since the addition of of the sync key it has become unusable. Time to take screen shots of my passwords and look for another app.

   Dump it. Right now I’m about to delete Codebook since it surprised me with an out of the blue sync key requirement. Can’t sync. Completely cryptic error messages. DO NOT BUY CODEBOOK. Look for anything else.

   STOP! Codebook is not secure. I’ve used codebook for many years and thought it was secure. Just updated to iphone 11 only to find all my passwords had been shared with Apple and were now by default visible in a new Passwords and Apps feature at a simple press of a button. Wow! Way to sellout your customers Codebook. I will have to migrate several hundred passwords now to a new app, or perhaps just paper. Ive recommended Codebook for years, totally regret it now. Codebook, you guys sold your souls and my passwords just to make a buck.

   Ripoff. Ripoff. Advertised as free, but after you register (adding all your info) you find out it is only a two week trial offer.

    Is this a joke?. I was and still am a happy user of the original Codebook for years. Thought this newer version would be useful. Got the trial version in App Store just now. Couldn't figure out anything. None of the fancy features shown in description was evident. Couldn't figure out to add a simple note. Couldn't see any graceful way to exit. No instructions. Is this really meant to be a functioning trial version?? The password I created was +Vq7Q*d&J%2@Mg#?Rt for a starter and it was deemed insecure by your system! I estimate that with its 18 characters each of >80 possibilities that the number of combinations to be attacked by brute force is about 20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. I suggest that NSA would have a hard time with that. Can you tell me the level of encryption used in your handy older version of Codebook? It works well and is pretty to look at.

    Was really great but.... After the recent update, I opened the app for the first time in a while, and it completely wiped my saved passwords.

    So confused. I went to log into my codebook as usual & received an alert message stating that codebook is phasing out starting January 1, 2019. I downloaded the new app but when I went to sync it to my google drive it failed to sync because google drive had a different password than the one I had set up on the new codebook app. Now I don’t know what to do. I am so annoyed.

    Bait & switch. I saw this as a price reduced app, I downloaded it from the App Store. When I started it, the first thing I saw was start with trial or buy for 9.99. This has good reviews for the app, but it seems that the “sale price” is to get a download and buy at regular price. I have a password manager now, but thought I would look at this one. I’m unhappy with the “bait & switch”, I am deleting this app.

    This is robbery!!. In a moment of complacency, I let the app update and now you force me to pay the ransom and update the app! U GUYS ARE SCUM!!!! Oh by the way, I paid for this app before and I had to buy again today coz I don’t wanna lose my passwords! What a great business mode!

    No longer syncs. My password didn’t change but it refuses to sync on new devices. Worthless now.

    Sync is crap. The sync options indicated that an exchange would occur between my computer and iPad keeping all. Instead it wiped out everything. Notes for 6 years gone and back up overwritten.

    This is not a user friendly app. I’ve used 2 password keeper apps in the past, with no difficulty. I tried and tried, read the instructions, but couldn’t figure out how to enter my password and account information. You shouldn’t have to be a rocket scientist to store your secure info.

    Paid $10 to lose features. Happy Codebook 2 user bit the bullet and "upgraded" to codebook 3. Lost all the timestamps on my imported entries and the ability to sort... Why?

    Why would you trust this company with your data?. Zetetic changed the name and logo if their Strip app without notifying their customers. How many other people, like I, deleted the now unrecognizable app on their phone thereby losing all their passwords? When I contacted Zetetic they told me they tried to contact customers through their website, Twitter, and emails (but admitted they were missing many email addresses). So they had considered this distinct possibility. Why would they think the average app user is reading their thrilling tweets or visiting tgeir website or opening emails from Zetetic? The name means nothing to me. Couldn't the engineers designed a message upon opening the app that alerted me to the upcoming changes and gave me permission to accept them? Do you really want to entrust your data to a company that makes decisions like this and puts the customer last? Just brilliant.

    Last Update. Since the last update, just over a week ago, the app crashes before it actually opens. I have lost access to all of my passwords! I'm hoping for an update soon but haven't seen it yet.

    The review lasted 5 hours. After reviewing it for 5 hours It sent me back to the app tore to download it again in which I found out I then had to purchase it. That was the end of my 14 day trial. The mac OS version 4.4 had its problems too.

    Great app, but. . . .. Great app and very easy to use. One very important thing to remember though. WRITE DOWN YOUR MASTER PASSWORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If for some reason you forget or lose your master password. Don’t bother trying to get any help. Just uninstall the app, re-install it and start over. There is now way to recover your data. Even if you have your phone app synced to the cloud, Dropbox or even your desktop. You will not be able to recover anything from your phone. I had mine backed up and synced on my desktop and google drive. I even have the huge list of words the app gave me when I first set it up. But without the master password you can’t log into the app to fix the fact that you don’t know the password. As for the fingerprint log on. If you change your fingerprint on iphone you will no longer be able to use your fingerprint in Codebook until you log into it using your password and reinable the feature. It is the only app on iphone that does this. I know I’m the idiot that forgot my master password. That being said, this is the only bad feature about this app. Recovery, no matter what you do is not an option. WRITE DOWN YOUR PASSWORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Good until last update. I lost all my passwords and imp information. After I was prompted by Codebook to update it , even though I wrote down the sync keys . And typed them in the new downloaded Codebook correctly . It said it recognized them but once Codebook opened i could not sync with Dropbox , it sad the keys don’t match with the ones on remote . Before the update I had created keys with the original file than was able to sync with Dropbox without any problems. I then wrote down the sync keys and saved them for later. After prompted to reinstall newest version. Keys were not recognized.

    Not Yet as Polished as Codebook 2. Imported info from Codebook 2, but finding Codebook 3 lacks key features in Codebook 2. Can't yet share, print notes, send notes as a plain text email or password protected PDF. This was an option in Codebook 2. This "upgrade" needs at least this same features as the previous version, Codebook 2. As a suggestion, it would be great to add the ability to select multiple notes for export! This is a great product, please fix it!!!!

    Changed the name of the app. I previously had Strip, I didn't realize they had changed the name and icon, I saw it on my phone and thought somehow a random app downloaded ( it's happened to me be for), not knowing what it was-I deleted it. Now I realize my error and all my passwords are gone. If the app is the same as Strip, it was great. I'm just really bummed I lost all my info.
