   App crashes constantly. I want to love this app but I can’t even use it. Want to identify a bird? Crazy. Upload a video? Crash. Use sound ID? Crash. Change your location of a sighting? Crash. Upload photo? Crash.

   Parents Beware: Disturbing, Violent Ads in App. This app exposed my 6-year-old son to an ad showing graphic images of bloody assault/murder victims, the kind of horrifying content you’d never expect in a birding app. Thankfully I was sitting next to him and shut it off immediately, but he normally uses this app on his own. The ad included shocking visuals and audio about violent crime and victims, and I was so disturbed that I didn’t even register what it was advertising. No parent should have to worry about this kind of content sneaking into a nature quiz app. This is absolutely unacceptable and a total failure of responsibility by the developers and the ad network they’ve chosen. To other parents: do not download this app. Find another birding app, one that won’t traumatize your kids with violent imagery in between quizzes. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with an app.

   Unfortunately after many try’s it’s failing. I actually put in for the bird hoodie something like that contest on the app and I got a response via email from I’m assuming the creator of app? Saying to rate the app. Well nothing has worked on it after the first identification. I was sitting there trying to get an ID on a birds song and it says there’s too much wind background noise. It was sitting there for five minutes. It does this multiple times there’s no wind noise. I’m looking right at the bird. I’m asking this app to identify which I do know what it is and it’s saying something totally off the wall incorrect. Like someone else said it’s great in theory but I’m deleting app since it’s no use to me. But I do appreciate the email from a live person. And good luck with the app. I believe I paid a while back for a year subscription and have since cancelled. Either way it is what it is.

   Not pleased. Terrible app, always says too much background noice even when there is none. Every bird comes back as being a Bluejay, even though the subject bird sounds nothing like a Bluejay. Maybe once you get your checkbook out it suddenly turns into something worthwhile, but I doubt it.

   Yuck. This is the absolute worst app I’ve ever downloaded because I wanted to identify bird sounds. I could identify them better from a book in the library than this thing and it is a junk app. Do not download it and do not buy it.

   Failed Completely. Identified one bird correctly (sparrow) and sent a second picture of a small, black bird in my yard. Gave me the choice of some ducks. When I didn’t take one, the app would not move on. The next day I tried again. It identified one bird. When I tried to do another one, it told me I needed a better version of the app. I’m deleting the app.

   Five Star frustration. I’m deleting this app out of sheer frustration. When I have a bird song to ID, it makes me watch at least two ads before letting me access recording the bird. By the time I do that, the opportunity is missed. I haven’t been able to catch a birdsong in awhile because of this. Shame on you for foisting this on us.

   Caution. To even begin using this app, I had to jump through all kinds of forced hoops, including the first one which was to give it a five star rating ((before I even used it))! I gave a three star rating because I had never used the app. So the rating system is false. There are many security and privacy tracking that this app wants to push through. Regardless, I did a free trial by subscribing for a month at $4.99 . when I was using the recording feature it guessed that I was listening to a northern flicker? (( clearly it was a cardinal)) the second attempt, it got it cardinal right, but was overlooking much louder Robin and the rooster that was crowing wasn’t even noticed! This was after the recording kept playing and playing trying to pick up these birds?? I’m talking several minutes and I kept getting a message too much background noise- try moving closer! I can’t obviously fly to the top of the tree and the only noise was the birds! it’s 5 o’clock in the morning! I’m not impressed. I stopped the monthly subscription -which (oddly)-immediately ended my free trial??! Which, by the way, if you get the free trial without paying there are so many pop-up ads that you have to watch it’s not worth your time. There was an endless ad on Social Security that I couldn’t end. The only way you’re able to use the free trial is to go to the store and visit there. * Not sure how long you have to linger there because I tried that approach ??- I guessed my only option was to watch irrelevant ads. I honestly wonder if this wasn’t designed just to track and steal personal data??

    Not accurate at all. Merlin is far superior in identifying the bird calls. I was already using that app first but it doesn’t have the option to make a profile to connect you with other bird watchers so I wanted to try this one too… I love the social opportunities this one provides but it’s simply not accurate so it’s useless to me. I have House Sparrows all over my yard every morning that I feed… Merlin is able to pick up those right away also Cardinals, Starlings, Mourning Doves and BlueJays, which I can literally see with my eyes. This app only shows it’s picking up House Wrens which I do not have. I paid for a years subscription for that and am disappointed. I’ll be sticking with Merlin.

    Ads required even if paying!. I have used this app for years and am just over it and frustrated! This is now the 3rd time I’ve heard a cool bird, tried to identify it, but had to watch a stupid ad first and the bird had stopped. This is ridiculous. I PAY, why do I have to subject myself to ads that make the product I pay for useless?

    Not that impressed. It wants you really close to the bird. Identified a Phoebe as a Golden Warbler (not in my area). Doesn’t tell you anything about the birds you save. Now lowered star rating as this thing is useless. Sure that was a dove at 11pm dark thirty and not “who, who, who cooks for you“ Barrows owl.

    Not accurate. It was near me, 3 feet away, took picture and used the app…95% it identified a mockingbird as an owl, then 76% a american robin and 2 more species until the last one, 4% a mockingbird…and that when I was lucky because on other occasions it didn’t hit it at all, just an owl. Wow Update: our park was full of a northern mockingbird mating calls, so beautiful singing. Curious if this app would behave better in recognizing the sound because using the pictures failed pitifully, so I started the app, the bird was close above me in a tree and the app said: American Robin then Carolina Wren 67%, then X then Y then Z and maybe if I would have waited 10 min maybe the app would mention Mockingbird. That s why I lower to one star this app accuracy.

    It’s a real bad app.. In terms of being able to identify birds by sound, this app is severely lacking. I found it after using a free app and expected it to have enhanced functionality around sound / call identification. Not at all. The free app does a far better job. If I’m listening and recording, I want a list of those birds identified during recording without having to stop everything to add a bird to my list. It’s a very unthoughtful user experience that does not seem created by anyone who tries to identify birds by sound. Save your money.

    Ads make it difficult to use. Don’t know if the app is even accurate or not because by the time the 30 second ad I had to watch was over, the bird had flown away. Making you watch long ads just to use the most basic function of the app is absurd and makes it essentially useless

    Incorrect Identification 1st use. In Hawaii - I see a Cardinal, Red headed bird. I buy the Ap, attempt to ID the bird & the Ap states it’s a Blue footed Booby - opposite. It was not. Cxld.

    Bad app. Trying to identify the elusive bird with the beautiful song ,right when I think I’ve finally am going to get it, the incessant add pops up and I have to watch to continue.And now I’ll never know what was singing that amazing tune! Take your app and your stupid ads( I would never purchase!)and shove them where the sun don’t shine!!!!! Also every time I look at nearby bird ids there always seems to be someone misidentifying it and no one calls them out on it!

    I do not know what bird this is still. RATING ONE STAR BECAUSE ZERO IS NOT AN OPTION. All I want to know is what bird is sitting in front of me and this did not help. Extremely incorrect information. Extremely disappointed.

    Terrible is an understatement. Literally stand right next to a wood thrush… app identifies 98% blue jay lol. Standing next to a sandhill crane….97% American Robin lol Save your money

    NOT A FREE APP. this app advertises itself as free, and after making an effort to collect all of your personal information. You then learn it will not let you proceed without purchasing the picture and sound functionality…. May as well just go get a book.

    Useless App. This app thinks every bird sound in my yard is a House Finch…..and none of those bird sounds are from a house finch. I visited a State facility that included a display where you could play a bird sound and guess the bird. This app got all ten sounds wrong, guessing that most sounds were a House Finch. Unfortunately, my trial period had expired, so my cancellation won’t take effect for 11 months.

    Awful. Requires looking at an ad before using the identifier. By the time the ad is finished the bird call is over. Pretty stupid.
