   Dropbox folders stopped working. My main location in the "Library" is a Dropbox folder. After today's update to 7.3.1, the folder disappeared and I had to re-add it. It worked exactly once, after which it disappeared again, and it was no longer possible to add any Dropbox location. This app is now unusable. Update: still broken in 7.3.2.

   Preview & editor scroll sync is poor. Good luck finding where you were, if you like to switch between editing and preview modes. I don’t know why this company repeatedly fails to make it easy to keep seeing the same place no matter which view you’re in. Worse yet, on desktop, clicking a heading in the Table Of Contents doesn’t guarantee you’ll see your content. You’ll be sent to a spot where you can’t see the heading you just clicked on. What should happen is where you are on the scroll depth of your document should stay the same no matter what view you’re using.

   PLEASE Change the icon. I’ve used this app since its 1st implementation and the current icon makes it extremely difficult to recognize among my other apps. It has been getting much less use since the change because I just don’t *see* it anymore.

   Disappointing Experience with iA Writer. I recently tried using the iA Writer app, and unfortunately, my experience has been less than satisfactory. One of the major drawbacks is the need to purchase separate licenses for iPhone and macOS, which feels unnecessary and costly. Additionally, the app frequently freezes when working with documents that are more than 10 lines long, severely hindering productivity. This issue makes it difficult to rely on the app for any serious writing tasks. Moreover, simple functions like searching within the current document require too many clicks, making the user experience cumbersome and inefficient.

   Bring the new editor this one is done. It started back there when they presented well designed, but half baked feature wiki links. That suffers from the absence of back and sections linking. It continues with the are annoying bug glitching editing behavior while typing on iPad with keyboard. I mean they’ve failed the critical bug in the main feature of the app. Then it was the revolutionary md hash markup whatever feature. Like are you kidding me?! A hash function as a major feature? And now they presented the shortcut that just throws a user into a god forbidden chatgpt web page, leaving them to copy paste and then markup whatever it would print out useful manually, rather than use their own so hyped hash markup appendix whatever feature to being integrated through, that, well, would be consistent and reasonable to do, like to minimize the volume of user’s redundant moves even a bit. But nope sir, it isn’t there. The more it goes the more I believe that the team is suffering from the lack of development skills (no offense), while having enough of such in both product design and branding. I dunno why, but whatever, I’m tired of this. Bring the new editor this one is done.

    Very disappointed.. After years of using this app with no problems, it suddenly couldn’t find or open any file remote or local. Regret to say support was less than helpful, enough so that I’m giving up on what was a dependable tool I used every day. I’m really hoping Apple Notes has caught up. UPDATE their support folks did reach out mostly to see it was an iOS issue and asked more questions. I ended up fixing it myself by reopening files through my Mac which fixed the issue on the iOS side. Not clear if it was the app or iOS but I came up with the solution myself.

    One thing missing. Had a great idea I wanted to write down, opened this app and couldn’t find “new note” Forgot my thought and still couldn’t find the new button! To the developers, make that obvious please.

    Not nearly as good as the desktop. First off, it does not connect well to Dropbox - which is where all my files are. Secondly, after only using if for the second time, the app totally glitched out and the only way I could get it to re-open was to reboot my ipad. AND IT LOST ALL OF MY WORK!!! The ONE thing a writing app MUST do is NOT lose your work!!!!

    No longer usable. I want to start by saying that I really like this program. The unfortunate part is that I can no longer use it. As soon as I start the program it flashes on the screen and dies. Total time is a second or two. I have two iPad pros. One is 11” and the other is 12.9”. They both have iPasOS 16.1.1. My version of iA Writer 6.0.5 (60083)

    VERY BUGGY. The number one job of any writing app is to protect the writer’s work at all costs. There should be no crashing, no losing work and yet, I’ve had many errors, even permission errors mid-session “you don’t have permission to view the file and therefore it couldn’t be saved” or something to that effect. It’s discouraging as I like the features, but the lack of stability forces me to give this one star and to move back to a simpler text editor. Thank you.

    Buggy. Pretty much unusable with OneDrive and Dropbox. Files don’t load and it’s easy to lose data. They keep blaming Microsoft and Dropbox but problems are the same even switching storage app

    Got scammed. I see now that they charge $30 for this app so that they can afford to pay people to say it’s worth the money. It’s not. I’ve had it crash more often than function. Very frustrating. Buyer beware, and you can’t always trust the supposed “Best Apps” blog posts - go figure.

    Doesn’t work on latest iOS. App worked for a short time, and I loved it. But it’s not stable. Opening a text file via Dropbox causes the app to lock up. Then, only a device restart will fix the problem, and only for a few minutes. If you’re editing local files, iA Writer is great, and it might work with iCloud. But don’t use it if you’re working with Dropbox.

    Great, if you want to be locked into Apple. If you want to use this with any other OS, like Linux, dream on. Used to love this app, I’m pretty peeved now. They used to support dropbox syncing which made it possible to somewhat use it with other OSes. These developers tell themselves they are trying to “focus” in on fewer platforms but they’ve essentially narrowed it down to one at the cost of their other users. I’m sorry I ever purchased this app. Edit: the developers claim it's not their fault but their android version syncs to dropbox still.

    Document manager error code 1 doesn’t let me create document in google drive. I can’t create new documents on google drive. Error states it’s document manager code 1 error. Work around is I have to use another app to create the document then go here to edit the document. This is very frustrating.

    Not worth the price. When theres free stuff out there.. Let me take the hit for you. I mean $30 aint cheap and i am hurt because i felt deceived by the price and pictures and my in ability to not do research. I thought if its for mac os and ios and its editors choice and $30 then it must be good. Haaaaa! Lol trust me when im telling you this is jot worth $30 and it is not gonna help you more than an online service. No it doesnt make a difference if it has a desktop app. It doesnt have anymore capabilities than to see if you extra words. Nothing about grammer or even anything AI. As so they make it seem. So ling story short do not buy this product unless you really like spending money on apps you will eventually forgot you bought because it is not been of help to you. Thats the word on this app.

    Crashes on iPad Pro. This has been my go to text editor for years. I love everything about it but I am about to jump ship as I have lost large portions of writing due to unexpected crashes on my iPad Pro. It would crash the whole iPad, and I would lose the last 10-15 minutes of writing. I hope there is an update to address this soon.

    Do NOT trust this app with your writing!. Whatever iA Writer does to sync your text files with iCloud, it does a lousy job of it. It loses text at a frankly unforgivable rate. I've seen it delete chunks of my writing multiple times within the same MINUTE—I write, it deletes, I rewrite, and it deletes again. If you look at the developers' responses to other users who've complained about this on the App Store, it seems they're willing to blame iCloud Sync for this, as if the problem is endemic to Apple's implementation of file synchronization. But other developers have seemingly worked out a solution for this: Bear doesn't lose my files like iA Writer does, and neither did Editorial (RIP). This arrogance on the part of the developers suggests they turn a blind eye to their own failures. At what point does intentional ignorance become functionally equivalent to incompetence? I'm not sure. Perhaps the developers of iA Writer should be asking themselves this question. Fundamental inability to store data aside, iA Writer is a lovely app. File management could be a bit more graceful, but admittedly it's a trickier problem to solve on iOS devices—and the developers seemingly have bigger file-related issues to tackle first. I'd have rated this app four or five stars, but a synchronization issue seems to have wiped a few of them out of existence.

    Crashes just about every time I use it. I don’t know if it’s just me but it feels like my app crashes just about every time I use the app. Want to edit a page with over 2000 words? Crash. Want to switch to a different document? Crash. Want to switch to a different app then switch back? Crash. None of the QnAs talk about this, no one at iA seems to be taking notice of this issue, and there’s seeming no fixes to the issue at all. Uninstalling/reinstalling does nothing, restarting the phone does nothing, closing the app does nothing, no fix seems to work!

    Basic garbage. Can’t just simply write with basic paragraph structure with out watching hours of tutorials. And still can not make it write with basic common sense. Good job making writing so complicating that I don’t want to write anymore today.

    Not worth $9 by a long shot. While I’ve tried desktop Writer and it worked pretty well for me, apparently there is next to NO customizability in the iOS version. If I want a dark background, I have to change the entire setting on my device to “dark”. I can’t change the font color. I can’t even set the font to a normal basic serif like courier. At most I would pay $1 for this app, and even then I personally would not want to when other apps exist for free. I used it for 15 minutes and found it miserable and annoying and not nearly as distraction-free as it wants to be, since I can’t adjust it to fit my needs. I’ll be requesting a refund as soon as the receipt comes in.
