   BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. App did not sync and save my recorded hike. Huge disappointment. The app did not sync and save my recorded hike. Contacted customer service and they suggested a possible fix which I tried and it did not work. I replied back to them and never got a reply. Don’t waste your money.

   App not working?. as of 5/26/25 app is no longer working and update is not downloading nor syncing. Have tried on and off of WIFI. When you go to download it nothing happens. Wanted to take a hike on this memorial day and was looking for maps. Bummer.

   Just isn’t there yet.. I was hopeful for this app, but it’s just not quite there yet. It’s very clunky to use, elevation profiles are incorrect, trail difficulties are rated in very weird ways. I have spoken many times to the developer, and they are attentive and helpful. However, the fact is the app isn’t improving, the problems still exist, and my hikes are more difficult to navigate with this app. I wish them the best of luck, but maybe in the future it’ll get there. It just makes sense to stick with AllTrails at the moment.

   Horrific Customer Service. I am not one to complain, as it takes time out of my day that is already limited. However, I must share my story here so that nobody else needs to experience what I have. I accidentally purchased the Pro+ membership for 1 year. within 30 minutes I cancelled my membership, deleted the app and emailed customer service about the mixup. Over the following weeks I’ve sent 4 additional follow-ups with no response. These people cannot be trusted, they are basically stealing from me and won’t even respond to my inquiries. It didn’t have to be this way, I’m not really even upset about the $, they just don’t care. Don’t waste your time or $ on this app, please let my experience be a lesson to you all. Shame on you Hiiker! I will tell everyone I know about this experience and hope to prevent others from being scammed!

   Not for use in USA. This app is not developed in the States. I purchased pro, and any free phone app has more detail than HiiKER maps. I tried to get a refund and received no response. We have a state park that has been there forever and it’s not available in the Hiiker map download. Don’t lose your cash on this one.

   App left us high and dry. Had used search to try to find a hike nearby. App had a hard time locating me in Virginia and kept searching for hikes in Ireland. We finally got that working, located a nearby hike that we knew would be outside of cell service - downloaded the appropriate map for offline viewing. Once we arrived - nothing. The app would not allow me to call up that downloaded map/trail. I’ll never use again. That’s the most basic feature that should work without fail.

    Directions?. The app doesn’t have a way to get directions to the trail. That makes it pretty much useless unless you’re just a teaser to make me use another app I’ve already paid a subscription for.

    Worst hiking app. It does not account for elevation gain!!! Used this app to plan a 7-day trip in the Dolomites. The times for hikes were COMPLETELY WRONG. We booked hotels and Refugi based on these data and the times were not even close— not even by a day! I’m a very experienced hiker; very strong and fast-moving. I’ve used AllTrails for a few years and never had any problems, but they don’t have my Alta Via planned out. Tried Hiiker. Won’t ever use again. Example: Hiiker reported a 5-hour hike on day three. Reality was a 14-hour hike including many vie ferrate. We ended up having to book a different rifugio and were very lucky they had space. Otherwise, we would have been stranded. Got charged for hotels that we couldn’t make it to. Payed extra for different hotels and refugi.

    Sparse and inaccurate. Probably the worst trail app I’ve used. Navigating is clunky and non intuitive. Information on water sources are inaccurate more often then not, and even the trail map itself is often wrong. Even the accurate info is pretty sparse. Do yourself a favor and use a more tried and true app

    Review Based on Oregon Coast Trail. This app needs an updated version of the Oregon Coast trail because if it continues using its current version- one that tells hikers to go around cliffs being smashed with waves, go through private property, think they have water sources that actually are unreachable beneath hwy 101- it will literally be the cause of future hiker injuries or worse, their deaths. And I know it’s more than just the app’s outdated map. I know that walking hwy 101 for the OCT is a variable involving other drivers as well, but the Hiiker app’s OCT map needs to include more of the actual trails along the coast to keep hikers from only being on the hwy if necessary. More than once did we get on the hwy and pass an official OCT sign, leading to a trail that didn’t exist on the Hiiker map. It also led us through a tunnel with no shoulder so me and my fellow hikers literally almost got run down and splattered by the cars passing through. The lack of comments could be due to the OCTs obscurity as a trail. But the map should at the very least indicate there’s an upcoming tunnel so hikers can then decide their level of comfort going up it. And then at that exact spot where the tunnel was, the map wants us to go down a road to get to Heceta light house that doesn’t exist. There was another road nearby that we took, but here’s an example of how inaccurate that map was and how in many cases of being told to go on the road when there was a physical trail, being directed through private property even though we were looking at no trespassing, no beach access signs, and being told to go across a beach when there’s a giant river flowing outwards so there’s no way to cross— these are all examples of the many times the app led us astray by being inaccurate and that it caused a lot of dangerous and uncertain situations for us. Also many of the rivers we had to go around that the app was telling us just to go straight through, these were not simply hours of high tide. They were literal rivers flowing out into the ocean that we had to add 10+ miles to the journey just to get around. But the hiiker map had a straight line going right across like we’ve got mermaid tails. And like the map gave us an over optimistic amount of passageway through impassable areas, it also gave us water source after water source that in real life, actually didn’t exist or was beneath the highway like in just going to scale the cliff side to get some of this elusive water. This app needs to either update this map, or take it down. No one needs to pay any money at all just to have to cross reference with the free maps online at the Oregon state parks website, miss a bunch of actual trail and stay safely on the road because the Hiiker map said so, and/or be put in literal danger due to this inaccurate map.

    Fraud. First of all there are far better apps out there that don’t get you lost. Secondly despite having cancelled my subscription and the app they still took out a years subscription without informing me they were going to do so which suggest to me they are not a decent company. Edit in reply to response. A decent bonefide company would have sent a reminder before they took money the subscription.

    The icon doesn’t work. What should’ve been a simple 10mile hike, estimated at around 4.5hrs long has turned into a 6hr hike up freaking mountains and the likes which I have yet to even complete because your icon keeps leading me on a wild goose chase, I’m now exhausted amd still have nearly another 3 miles to go which going of my current pace because of its bullcrap it going to take me another 3, very peeved right now and after I heard such good things

    Autorenewal with no warning. I have just been charged £29.99 for a renewal with no prior communication. My previous subscription was £14.99. I don’t use the app so feel cheated.

    RIP off. Very poor app, I think it’s the worst I’ve tried. Caught me in the free trial with a subscription and now has auto renewed at double the price without warning. So many better trail apps. Avoid this one

    Avoid. Incorrectly charged my account and is a nightmare trying to get refunded. I have never encountered such poor communication from a company. The app doesn’t have a lot of trails either, signed up to it for a Norway trip and there wasn’t a single trail in the entire country.

    Auto renewed with no warning. The Hiiker app is fine but I didn't use it much and didn't intend to renew. When I signed up, the welcome email didn’t say the subscription would auto-renew. No warning before the charge; no notification afterwards; and almost three times the cost. Contacted them and got an automated acknowledgment but no reply after a week.

    So disappointed. Consistently wrong. I’ve given this app so many opportunities. It has consistently let me down and sends you down wrong paths and routes even when you upload a GPS map to it. Waste of money as I bought premium.

    Awful. Awful app. Grossly over complicated. Not intuitive. Open the App you can’t see the map or your location unlike OS Maps app. Appears no short cut to downloaded maps that simply disappear. Very glossy full of hype. Avoid.

    Bad support. I am unable to cancel my subscription. The app says to do it on the App Store but it’s not there. I emailed them almost 2 weeks ago and they never responded. They’ve charged me £40 but I have no way of canceling it or getting a hold of them. I don’t even use the app anymore. Served a purpose and I would’ve used it again but not after this.

    Did not tell me I had gone off route. I purchased the premium package because of the alert feature and it didn’t work! I had to try and navigate back onto a path which you could barely see and I thought I was lost at one point (remote fell 2000feet). The so called poor path was marked up on the map which I believe are taken from OS maps. Waste of money.

    Visually good - full of bugs. I am really disappointed having paid for 12 months. When planning a route with snap, it takes the indirect (less obvious) route, fails to recognise some footpaths and when I click undo to redo the way I want to go, the page crashes and all of the route I have planned is gone. I then have to start over. I wish I could send this app back for a refund.

    Not good for the UK. The history map is great but the walks in the UK are scant at best….. The developer has disagreed with this review. I was in Llandulas on the north Wales coast recently. Hiker didn’t even recognise the town or have any walks there, but OS maps did, and has 3 walks. Just one example….

    Not easy. The app looks nice but it’s not easy to use, you can not fin a hike telling a point to point places using a post code or names, you have to tell where is the place exactly on the maps
