   New version 2.8.367 version is so ugly and not as informative. I went to go back to this app after haven’t used it for over a month and I see it’s completely changed and it looks really horrifying. The words are big and bolded, and it’s just not as neatly set up as it was in the previous versions which I can’t get over it, so I’m not gonna use this app anymore. I’ll just stick to Google.

   Not Impressed. Tapping once to bring up the Paste option for pasting a word I that I had copied from my browser app didn’t work. Took a few tries to figure out I had to tap multiple times until the Paste option showed up. After discovering that, I immediately uninstalled this app. Being temporarily limited to one hand while using my phone is already hard enough - I’m not gonna add ‘tap multiple times to paste in this app, even though all other apps require only once’ to my list of stressors. I’ll stick to using etymonline.com

   Mr. The short form PIE used this website, is not explained while searching the app, but in android website of url gives the meaning as “Proto-Indian-European”. So I rate this app poor or one star.

   No definitions show up! Blank screen. Bought the upgrade and typed in a word and NOTHING came up. Only a blank screen. I even clicked on other words and same thing happened.

    App Keeps Forgetting I Paid to Remove Ads. I literally went to bed with the app open last night, and unlocked the device to find the ads were back again. I shouldn't have to keep hunting down the "Restore Purchases" feature every few days while the developer double dips on my annual subscription fees plus ad revenue. Edit: The app keeps nagging me to rate it 5 stars even though I’ve already rated it AND paid for it, and the ads are back yet again! If we can’t trust this developer to honor our purchases, how can we trust this app at all? What information is it collecting and selling to the ad networks?

    Not as thorough as website. I had looked up “caboodle” on the website and there was a paragraph response. I noticed the ad for this app and immediately downloaded it. Looked up the same word on the app and it only gave me the year. No paragraph explanation like the website has. No thanks. I’ll just use the website.

    Great Etymology - Horrible Layout & Font issues. This dictionary is phenomenal, highly accurate but all the font is white and it’s unable to be read. This is terrible design work and there may be some glitch in the system. Please fix for a 5 Star Review ⭐️

    Glossary. Reveals a bit but major gloss. Currently experiencing a glitch. Look up a word and half the page is covered by a blank slat rendering everything unable to be read. have to reload the page a few times to fix. please fix software. Seems to be related to the adds. Will increase a star when issue is fixed.

    Premium subscription!?. Since when did this app require premium subscription? Why should I bother with an app that requires internet and stuffs ads down my throat when, for free and without ads, I can just access the website? The only reason I downloaded this app is to get offline access to etymology. But now I have to pay a subscription fee!? I’m going to contact Etymonline’s creator and make sure whoever is developing this app isn’t ripping off his ideals.

    Illegible Text. As much as I love using this app, I have only one issue with Etymonline. The words are all hidden due to similar colors between the words and the app’s layout. One change to be made in my opinion would be the use of contrast in colors. If someone can fix this issue we’d all very much appreciate it. We would all gladly support you guys with the use of this app.

    Ads are nefarious. It's one thing to have ads, it's another thing that they are not ads but p0*n. The images are on purpose to be disturbing. I'm not going to use this app ever again even though it used to be my #1 favorite etymology app for years. While in other circumstances I would have paid the subscription to remove ads, these aren't ads and the fact that it's disgusting makes that they will lose me, a paying subscriber as there is no way I would to PAY for a subscription to this company.

    A useful dictionary vitiated by a subscription rip off. This is admittedly a very useful dictionary but an $18 a year fee for a dictionary corrupts the learning process. The relentless money grabs through subscriptions is driving me back to hardcover books. Besides, several other high-quality dictionaries, including Taber‘s medical dictionary, the American Heritage dictionary, and Webster’s dictionary are all available as a single purchase in the app store. This is the ugly side of capitalism.

    Needs innovation. There should be audio playback for all the root words. The study of etymology could be made more accessible and engaging than what this app is currently capable of.
