Simple and loved for years: colored noises, masks hotel noise through a Bluetooth speaker, taken on trips instead of a bulky machine. The main trouble was that the app went unupdated for new iOS and stopped working in the middle of the night, until the developers fixed it. Minor gripes: you can't pause it from the lock screen and it drains the battery fast.
