Stride is free and simple, but suffers from a critical bug: mileage disappears after several hours of driving, which is especially painful for Uber and Lyft drivers who lose hundreds of dollars in tax deductions.

What people use it for
Gig workers with short shifts who check the app regularly. Long shifts without monitoring risk a full data wipe.
What reviews praise
Free, simple interface, built-in expense tracking, convenient for gig workers when it works
What reviews complain about
Mileage disappears after 4-8 hours of driving with no warning, auto-tracking often stops on its own, no DoorDash Crimson card integration, aggressive notifications that cannot be disabled without losing functionality
What users experience
1 excerpt from the breakdown. These are individual cases, not a verdict on all users.
I've been using the Stride app since 2020. I think it's a great app, but this year, 2026, I'll turn the app on before I go out to work and by the time I get home, anywhere from 4 to 6 hours later, when I look at my mileage it's at ZERO or barely even a couple miles recorded.
