An editorial reading of the saved reviews

Etsy is a marketplace for handmade goods and hard-to-find items where real sellers often exceed expectations, but AI-generated spam listings and the inability to block sellers have noticeably degraded search.

What people use it for

Gift and home decor shoppers willing to spend time filtering in search of something unique.

What reviews praise

This is where people find things that exist nowhere else: custom pieces, antiques, and items from real makers.

What reviews complain about

The catalog is increasingly clogged with auto-generated listings that you have to sift through to reach an actual maker.

What users experience

I used to love Etsy so much but after redownloading it after a few years I saw that every listing is just AI slop. I wish they had some way to monitor it because it sucks to have to sift through tons of AI scram listings just to get to the real artist that actually produce quality items.

App is extremely functional but I hate to see more AI in a place where small business and man-made items should shine.
