If only. The app worked it would have been cool

  2. ★★★★broken: freezes, cannot log in or sign up

Frozen. Can’t even get started. It’s frozen from the get-go.

  3. ★★★★broken: freezes, cannot log in or sign up

Inconsistent and does not work. I created an account numerous times and it did not work. i linked my email and then iphone account. Tried to log in and the app wouldn’t ever allow me to sign in. The app just keeps showing i need to create an account.

NEWFORM UPDATE HONEST FEEDBACK. I love The Phoenix, but the NewForm update in March 2025 made the app experience worse. The creators did not consult users before they released it, and many of the reviews here after March are dismal. The NewForm website runs like a marketing ad, and the app seems more interested in appearances rather than functionality. The entire point and function of a recovery community app is to find meetings and events, get the relevant information, and sign up easily. On this, the NewForm app fails. Luckily they haven’t changed too much on the volunteer interface side of things, but I dread the day that they do. I second my fellow reviewers in the following feedback: - Half of the photos are irrelevant to the events that they are paired with, and the overly large stock photos are a waste of space. I spend too much time scrolling to find the information I need because the photos get in the way. - Same thing with the large “Meetings, Wellness, Fitness, Social Activities” icons and the “Activities” buttons on the Experience page. Get rid of it. Or make that a drop-down bar to conserve space. Or keep it as a “Filters” button, like it is on the calendar page. When I click on the Experiences page, I want to know the events in my area up front. - The font is too light and missable across the entire app. We have people of all ages in recovery and if the print is so tiny I can barely find it, then I can’t imagine how difficult it is to locate for our older or nearsighted members. Particularly the font for Duration, Capacity, and Intensity Levels is TINY. Again here, the stock image gets in the way. - Minor note. I think Phoenix events should be labeled “The Phoenix” rather than just “Phoenix,” because it looks confusing when a city is listed right beforehand or members are trying to distinguish between the city and the organization. - In the Events Near You page, include the option for a monthly calendar for people who plan ahead instead of requiring them to scroll week by week. This is also useful for people who travel and want to find Phoenix events in other cities. See the Apple Calendar monthly view of Google Calendar for ideas. I would check the old Phoenix app multiple times daily but because of the new formatting, user interface, and reduced functionality, I am on the app less and find myself going to fewer events. I appreciate what NewForm is trying to do in connecting multiple recovery communities, but a significant amount of user experience was lost in the process.

Horrible New App. This new user interface is terrible in every way. It's very difficult to find events or scroll through them quickly. Previously you could see multiple events at the same time. Now, you have a giant picture (useless stock photo) taking up the whole page. The relevant information (location, date, time) is nearly impossible to read. You also can't tell if an event is full until you click on it, which is incredibly tedious. The slider to adjust the location range doesn't work, so I'm flooded with distant events. I've stopped looking for new events because the app is so bad. I'm sure the poor UI is turning away potential members.

New User/Cannot access App. I just downloaded this app to try and when I sign up it doesn’t send the confirmation email for me to click so now I can’t use the app at all.

  7. ★★★★broken: freezes, cannot log in or sign up

Not working. Ever since I updated the app from the Phoenix to this NewForm app it doesn’t even open. Deleted and retried it twice. Needs fixed.

  8. ★★★★broken: freezes, cannot log in or sign up

New Update is terrible. Does not work

  9. ★★★★broken: freezes, cannot log in or sign up

Great Idea. I’ll start with the technical side: the app freezes constantly, making it nearly unusable. On a conceptual level, I was drawn to the idea of this being a community for sober individuals not necessarily as an extension of AA, but as a broader space where people could connect in different ways. I was excited by the potential for activities like museum trips, group dinners, walking meetups, or creative pursuits like painting, art classes, and photography. It sounded like a great way for people to step away from the bar scene and form meaningful connections. Unfortunately, the reality of the app was nothing like what I envisioned. It feels far more limited in scope than I expected, and the technical issues just add to the frustration. At this point, I’m likely going to uninstall it it’s disappointing when the concept doesn’t live up to the execution, and on top of that, it simply doesn’t function. 1 Star due to functionality issues, 5 Stars for the idea and potential.

Open eyes. Can not message event person, lags a lot , comment on posts and comments don’t get added, an ideal of getting people who don’t use together is great , the getting together and site needs help

Nothing here. I live in the 30th most populated city in the US. I’m not far from the 22nd most populated city in the US. A densely packed area. And yet, there are no events within 60 miles of me?

Tobacco isn’t allowed either!. As an addict for almost all of my adult life, while I understand tobacco is an addiction as well, this goes hand in hand with why I don’t go to NA. I was on methadone when I first got sober, and they don’t consider MAT as treatment, mere substitutions. I also was most recently addicted to meth, and alongside all of the ways drugs have ruined my life, sometimes the only thing I feel I have left is vaping. So this won’t help me yet! I am no longer using any illicit substances and there should be somewhere else I can go for support, thank anyway, am deleting!

  13. ★★★★broken: freezes, cannot log in or sign up

Sign-up and login are broken?. I’m trying to sign up but SSO doesn’t work (after I go thru the authorization process, it just brings me back to the login screen and nothing changed). I also tried signing up by email but I didn’t receive the verification email (checked spam and it’s not there either). This has been going on for several days.

  14. ★★★★broken: freezes, cannot log in or sign up

Great idea, but the app won’t let me sign up. I have tried using this app well over a dozen times now. Every time I open it, it asks me to sign up. When I use the apple option, it stays on the sign up screen after going through the process, when I use the google option, the same result. When I sign up with email, the confirmation email never sends. I have tried this with 5 different email addresses. Normally I would go online to find how others fixed this, but because this app is the same name as a development software it is impossible to find any troubleshooting info.

Sounded exciting but. Couldn’t even join the app just glitched and cycled

I’m a long time pheonix volunteer.. I have been a volunteer for the past three years with Phoenix and I absolutely love the community. The community has been a blessing for me but as much as I’ve tried I can’t get behind this app. I have noticed members complaining about how the app isn’t easy to navigate, how they have trouble signing up for events now, how the app now is too similar in name to the cable network “free form “ and how much confusion there is between the Phoenix and NewForm. For example: a newcomer comes in and asks where the NewForm members are not where are the Phoenix members are meeting up. I explain the best way I can but they are still confused. As a volunteer I find switching back from “member“ to “ volunteer” is frustrating. I sometimes can’t even find members to add as participants in my events and it’s damn near impossible to find the place to get support or give feedback despite their being countless issues. I find it harder to find actual events to attend thus I haven’t been going to events as much. Since the launch of the NewForm app I have only been to a handful of events while under the Phoenix app I would attend events all the time. With the events I have hosted before the app switch we would have 36 attendees every event and now it’s 10 if that. I feel the new app is a cause of the lower attendance numbers. If I dislike using it as a volunteer how do the members feel without an easy way to voice their displeasure? It’s hard to write this review as I do love the community and appreciate the people , the donors , the staff , and volunteers that make all of these amazing things possible but I feel like it would be a disservice if I gave a 5 star review to an app when it’s the community that is 5 stars and the app is a 2 at most . I do not write this to be mean towards the developers of the app as I can only imagine how hard they’ve worked and I ask that these issues I addresses be acknowledged and not fall onto deaf ears.

Navigate. I’m having trouble navigating the app and finding the classes I want to go to. The times and places.

  18. ★★★★★other

Only for major cities. Seems to be only based in major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Huston etc. if you live in any of those cities great for you! For the rest of us, don’t even bother downloading the app. Only a limited amount of virtual classes will be available. That sucks.

  19. ★★★★★newform redesign worse than old phoenix

Improvements needed. New app is cluttered compared to the Phoenix app. I have all notifications turned off in the NewForm app’s settings yet I continue to get notifications about people on the Go Live functionality (I ended up disabling all notifications for NewForm via iOS settings..

  20. ★★★★★other

    app. Is not that good

  21. ★★★★★broken: freezes, cannot log in or sign up

I was excited to try this BUT. So far I’ve only experience the spinning wheel of death. This app has yet to allow me to fully set myself up 🙃🫤 I have given it several attempts to work itself out by letting it spin for hours. I’m going to delete the app, maybe I’ll come check it out later ✌🏼

  22. ★★★★★newform redesign worse than old phoenix

Ease of app. Confusing, may need more adjustments

  23. ★★★★★broken: freezes, cannot log in or sign up

Trouble at signing on?. I really want to use the app but when I sign in it prompts me for my name and then doesn’t let me proceed, even though I entered my name. App creators: any fix for this?

  25. ★★★★newform redesign worse than old phoenix

New App Issues. I have been a Phoenix member for two years, and the content is phenomenal. However, this new app format is horrible! There is no JOIN NOW button for online meetings on either of my iPads even after app is deleted and reinstalled. I have to watch on my tiny phone. Also the font is too small and too light for me to read on the webpage. We don’t need fancy, we need function.

  26. ★★★★newform redesign worse than old phoenix

Completely dysfunctional. This new update has completely destroyed any functionality of the app. Things load as if it's dialup internet. Content is missing in places. Links never load. Time out requests. It's the same from the website. Can't use anymore.

  27. ★★★★other

Idk. I’m not real good at meeting or in groups of people but one on one I feel comfortable. Meeting sober people online makes it easier for me. Also the online meetings and classes are great because I’m at the halfway house right now and can’t get out and do much. I wish the was a group in Fargo.

  28. ★★★★★in-person events: yoga, hikes, sports

Awesome, and Second to None. Am a new member. And there are So many cool activities online and in person to attend! Thank goodness for the Phoenix. Your organization, staff, and all who attend these events are Life Savers! Thank You!

  29. ★★★★★community and sobriety change lives

Cool app idea. All of these concepts are like what I learned in rehab or therapy in an application.

  30. ★★★★★community and sobriety change lives

Awesome Community!. This app has been a complete transformational success and I’ve never been so excited about sober commitment and company! Wellbeing is absolutely essential to the success of the experience you will have!
