Brainscape is one of the few apps in this batch that genuinely implements spaced repetition with user-rated confidence. The method works, and the interface is cleaner than most competitors. The main limitations are around session control and text-to-speech.

Free version is fine if you just want flash cards. Needs a lot of work to actually be a worthwhile app. If you accidentally add the same word - the app can't flag duplicates. Extremely tedious to delete cards. Also the "algorithm" to help interval learning the cards is absolutely not functional. I hI'm a paid user and am extremely annoyed by the app's inability to show flashcards in a random order, starting from unanswered cards first. The app keeps showing flashcards that I just saw a few minutes ago and marked as needing to study, while hundreds of unanswered cards are still available to goIch dachte, das würde mein Wissen abfragen, aber man liest doch nur die Karten ab!
