People love it for an unusual thing: instead of the dome overhead it shows the three-dimensional structure of the galaxy and how far away objects really are from us. Observers and astrophotographers say it changes your sense of scale and is great for star parties and teaching. The downsides are minor: navigation is clunky in places, and there's no sky-tie by coordinates, so you end up jumping between apps.

Wonderful app that provides a perspective that is totally different than “looking out” from our small perch on the earth. Go ahead and jump all the way out of the Milky Way and look back for a change. Wow! It is beyond my understanding how anyone can calculate the position of what we see as unmo
